So why would anyone ever buy clothing for their pets? Some people even go to the trouble to make dog snuggies at home! In fact, virtually all animals got by without the advantage of outfits for large numbers of years. Our very own primate forebears did not have garments, and the very first people almost certainly existed without them as well. Nevertheless folks have lived in areas with chillier environments than the one that made us lose our fur. So we adapted by learning how to produce garments. Many of us also take pets out of their native climates. Several species were carefully bred to be comfortable in significantly warmer climates. When we take them out from the comfy climate, and expect them to stay in chilly climates, most people may have to help them with some protective garments!
